Hay B*tch ! – a low impact cookbook

Whilest doing research on low impact / low energy cooking methods we stumbled upon the ancient old method of the hay box, also known as a thermal cooker. A hay box is a thermally insulated box or container filled with insulating material such as hay, straw, wool, or shredded paper, used to finish cooking food slowly and efficiently by retaining the heat of the initial boil. Eager to test it, we made our own mottainai version made of recycled fabric and pillow filling.

Based on her culinary experiment with this version, Jennifer designed this little cookbook: Hay B*itch! A mottainai match of some of her favourite things: graphic design, cooking using a low impact method made from recycled materials.
